The Safety and Training Program provides guidance and assistance to all departments
within the City to ensure the safety of all employees and general public who work
in/around or visit our facilities.
Our Safety Training Coordinator performs
duties such as:
- Walk-through inspections
- Safety training
- Orientation sessions
to enusre compliance with all federal and state regulations.
We are an active
member of the North Carolina Association of Local Government Safety Officals
(NCALGSO)
and take advantage of professional consultative services, professional development,
and other briefings from this agency.

The City of Goldsboro was the recipient of 20 safety awards during the annual Safety
Awards luncheon sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Labor. The following
departments won in the following categories in tMay 2008:
- Silver Award – First Year: Police Investigations Bureau, Police Operations Bureau,
Storm Maintenance Division, and Utility Maintenance Division
- Silver Award – Second Year: Fire Station (Station #2)
- Silver Award – Third Year: Leaf and Limbs Division
- Gold Award – First Year: Fire Station #5, Fire Station #4, Inspections Department,
Public Works Department, and Planning Department
- Gold Award – Third Year: Recreation and Parks (Maintenance Department) and Police
Support Services Bureau
- Gold Award – Fourth Year: Fire Station #3, Garage Division, and Sanitation Division
(Recycling) Gold Award – Seventh Year: Engineering Division and Public Works (Street
Maintenance Division )
- Gold Award – Eighth Year: General Government Gold Award – Tenth Year: Finance Department
